CBT's Mission

College Bound Today (CBT) is a nonprofit college access mentoring program that operates in the high schools of the Montebello Unified School District (MUSD) a few miles east of downtown Los Angeles.  Since our founding in 2008, CBT has recruited more than 350 volunteers from many different walks of life to serve as CBT mentors in MUSD high schools. And since 2008, more than 1,300 MUSD high school students have been mentored by CBT volunteers.

We work hard to provide CBT students and their parents with encouragement, guidance and motivation as they navigate the college application process. Our mentors engage with CBT students and parents to help them understand that attending a 4-year college or university after high school offers a valuable opportunity that is affordable, achievable and desirable.

Elevating Student Success

More than 85% of our students come from low-income Latino families.  Nearly 75% of them are first-generation college-goers, as their parents have no first-hand experience with college. Since the inception of the CBT program, 99% of the students who completed our 5-semester program (917/927) have gone on to attend college, and 85% of them (789/927) went on to attend 4-year colleges and universities.

College Bound Today cannot survive without substantial financial support from generous individuals, corporations, foundations, trusts and other donors.  By making a tax-deductible contribution to our program, you can help us ensure that CBT will continue providing high-quality college guidance and encouragement to MUSD high school students and their parents.
